Privacy Statement
Last updated: September 9, 2026 · Applies to the Okee apps for iOS & Android and this website.
The short version
- No location. Ever. Okee has no map — because there is no location data to map.
- No account, no address book. A private 8-character code like 1ABCXYZ8 is all your monitors ever need.
- Monitors see almost nothing: that you checked in, when, and your battery level. That's the whole feed.
- No ads, no trackers, no selling data — and you can have everything deleted at any time.
1. Who we are
Okee is a quiet safety check-in app: it broadcasts a simple "OK" — plus your battery level, if you enable that — to a small circle of people you approve, called monitors. This statement explains what information the Okee apps for iOS and Android and the website at okeeapp.com handle, why, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, contact us at support@okee.app.
2. Data we collect
Okee is built to collect as little as possible. Here is the complete list:
- Check-in data. Your current status (OK) and the time of your latest check-in, plus your chosen check-in interval.
- Battery level. Your current charge percentage, only while battery broadcast is switched on.
- Circle connections. Which 8-character codes are linked to which people — that is, who you approved as a monitor and who approved you. Codes like 1ABCXYZ8 carry no personal information.
- Push notification tokens. Anonymous device tokens from Apple's Push Notification service or Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging, so missed-check-in alerts can actually reach your monitors.
- App settings. Choices such as your check-in interval and sleep hours, so the service behaves the way you configured it.
- Motion activity — on your device only. Okee notices routine daily movement (like picking your phone up) to check in for you automatically. This is processed on your device; motion data is not uploaded.
- Purchase status. If you upgrade inside the app, the payment is processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never receive your card details — we store only your plan status, to unlock features.
- Minimal service logs. Our hosting provider processes standard request data (such as IP addresses) for short periods to serve the service and protect it from abuse.
3. What we never collect
- Location. Okee never requests location permission and has no location feature of any kind.
- Your phone's contacts. Monitors are added by sharing a code — not by importing your address book.
- Advertising data. No ad SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking, no profiling.
- Sensitive content. No photos, microphone, camera, health, or browsing data.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data — full stop.
4. How we use data
The data above is used only to:
- operate the service — show your check-in status and battery to the monitors you approved, and deliver alerts when a check-in is genuinely missed (never during your sleep hours);
- keep the service secure and prevent abuse;
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
5. Legal bases (EEA & UK)
Where the GDPR applies: performing our contract with you (running the check-in service you configured), legitimate interests (keeping the service safe and abuse-free), and your consent — push notifications are optional, and you can withdraw consent at any time by turning notifications off or removing the app.
6. Who we share data with
- Your monitors. Your status, last check-in time, and battery level are visible to the people you approve — that is the entire purpose of the app, and the entire extent of it.
- Service providers. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and the push-notification services run by Apple and Google, strictly to deliver the service. They may process data such as IP addresses and device tokens.
- Authorities. Only where the law genuinely requires it.
Never: advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
7. Retention & deletion
Service data is kept only while your code is active. Rotating your code instantly disconnects everyone who used the old one, and removing a monitor stops their access. People who could previously see your status may retain information on their own devices until their app refreshes — we can't reach into copies made outside Okee. To delete everything we hold about you, email support@okee.app; we complete deletion, including backups, within 30 days. Uninstalling the app stops all collection from your device — just ask if you also want the service-side data cleared.
8. Children
Okee is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child's data has reached us, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, and access within the service is limited to what's needed to run it. No system is perfectly secure — but the most effective safeguard here is design: we deliberately hold so little that there is very little to protect or lose.
10. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted — just email support@okee.app. If you are in the EEA or UK, you additionally have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the GDPR. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know and delete; we do not sell personal information, so no "do not sell" choice is required.
11. This website
This site is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no trackers. It loads fonts from Google Fonts; as with any web request, their servers see your IP address when delivering them.
12. Changes to this statement
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and the date above. Material changes will also be flagged in the app or on the site before they take effect.
13. Contact
Questions, requests, or complaints — about this statement or your data — go to support@okee.app. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
